1:1:1 Initiative with Salesforce
HOW IMPORTANT IS INFOCOMM IN PRESCHOOLS?
The quality of preschool education is not only dependent on teachers but also the infrastructure that can aid or hamper their teaching. The more IT-enabled they are, the better. Productivity rises. Unfortunately, preschools from the nonprofit sector often face intense competition for resources and have minimal IT infrastructure and limited funds.
HOW WOULDTHE COLLABORATION HELP THE SECTOR?
We committed USD $1 million in capital to support the implementation of IT solutions and accompanying hardware for up to 60 nonprofit preschools in Singapore. Salesforce.com Foundation will also match with USD $1 million in licenses to give more than 600 teachers the ability to update and manage student data in the cloud.
With greater IT access and support to help our teachers become more productive, we can reduce manual tasks and unnecessary duplication of work. We worked to streamline the input of students’ records, creating lesson plans creatively and having regular and better feedback with parents through the new system.
WHAT ARE THE OUTCOMES?
The project was implemented in three organisations and eight centres, including Presbyterian Community Services and PPIS. We did a review and decided to wrap up this initiative, focusing our resources on new initiatives addressing systemic issues in the sector such as elevating the professionalism and quality of teachers.
